Market Assessment, Anne Arundel County, Maryland - January 2010

The January 2010 data is now available at MRIS.com for Anne Arundel County, Maryland and other metro-Washington and metro-Baltimore counties.  To quickly summarize the January data, the average sale price rose by 1.7% and the dollar volume was up 8.2% from this time last year, while month over month was down the dollar volume was down 35.4%.  The likely cause of this is one of three reasons. First, December is traditionally a slow month for real estate sales with many buyers and sellers focusing on the holidays and not buying or selling unless they absolutely have to.  Second, the first-time home buyer credit of may have boosted November sales.  Third, snow, more snow and still more snow.  Weather can play havoc on sales and the mid-Atlantic has had record snow falls this winter.
